Miss Effie Cornelia Guthrie, the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S.W. Guthrie, was born in Crawfordsville, December 6, 1882. Died Saturday morning, March 25, 1911, being at the age of her death 29 years, 3 months and 19 days. She united with the First Baptist Church fourteen years ago. And as we reflect upon the memory of this dear one who was here for a short while ago, casting sunshine even until the angel of death enfolded her into its wings and took her to that great oblivion divine, where we all wish to meet, we unconsciously and simultaneously reflect upon the true worth of the lives of the beautiful flowers that are here but a brief while, casting their fragrance and then fade away. She was a Christian girl, as everybody knows who knew her and came in contact with her. And she often frankly said before her death that she loved everyone, that she was ready to die, and that death was sweet; that she had seen Jesus by her bed; and that she had talked with her brother, who departed from this world in his youth. She died peacefully and smiling.
